AZIENDA AGRICOLA TERRE VERAE

Established in 2019 Terre Verae, had immediately to face a difficult historical season – however, it soon displayed interesting features which are worthwhile examining.

Firstly, it reflects the Ligurian traditional preference for promiscuous farming vocation – instead of focusing on a single produce. This love for the land is also reflected in the PDO Riviera Ligure Extra Virgin Olive Oil choice. Owner Mattia Basso underlines the link with the memory of the places of the heart, located in the Fontanabuona valley, the entroterra of the Tigullio and Entella areas (province of Genoa). The productivity and industriousness of this region also shows in the owner’s commitment. The azienda‘s headquarters are in Ognio, a hamlet in the municipality of Neirone. There, a threefold vocation is carried on: hospitality, grapevines and olives. The plots of land are scattered throughout the villages of Neirone, Moconesi, Tribogna and reach the famous Cinque Terre with the vineyard of Prevo, in Vernazza. In Ognio, the azienda features a rural park surrounding a comfort-equipped agriturismo, the ideal place for an immersion in nature. Activities abound. The care of the vegetable gardens and orchards is more than a tradition. The production of jams and, a gem, fine chestnut flour, dried and processed by a water mill. Once common in the past, today it is a precious find. Then the vineyard, with the participation in a patented project for the use of slate processing waste as a mineral contribution to the soil. The slate is quarried in the Fontanabuona valley, where the heart of the azienda is located. Project are under way regarding a new vineyard in Ognio. There the forty olive trees that produce the “SOLO 40” label thrive: PDO Riviera Ligure-Riviera di Levante extra virgin olive oil from Fontanabuona.
