PDO Riviera Ligure was one of the protagonists of the 2019 edition of the “Premio Leivi”, dedicated to EVOs produced in the provinces of Genoa and La Spezia. The award dedicated to the PDO Riviera di Levante sub-area was conquered by Frantoio Lucchi & Guastalli (Santo Stefano Magra) and their monovarietal Razzola as a result of the blind tastings and careful technical assessments carried out by the professional panel of the Chamber of Genoa. Lucchi & Guastalli’s high quality standards show in their balanced EVO, rich in personality.
Established in 1995, the “premio Leivi” bears the name of one of the most renowned olive farming areas of the province of Genoa. It features two sections, both for professionals and amateurs.
2019 sees the novelty of the monitoring of the best olive groves of eastern Liguria, 20 highlights in 20 different municipalities. According to representatives of the panel, the outstanding performance of easternmost Liguria comes as no surprise, as the area was spared the ravages of October 2018 wind storm. EVO is alive, and this even truer when it comes to PDO Riviera Ligure-Riviera di Levante EVO.
