The 2020/2021 PDO Riviera Ligure EVO patto di filiera (supply chain agreement) has been recently issued by the Board of Directors of the Protection Consortium, which has confirmed last season’s minimum prices of both olives and oil and improved administrative simplification.
Thus, the price of € 20.00 per quarta (Ligurian unit of measure for olives, i.e. 12.5 kg) related to olives from olive groves enlisted in the PDO Riviera Ligure EVO control system has not changed (€ 1.60 per kg of olives with a 20% yield); the price of unpackaged oil before certification is € 10.30 per kg.); € 10.50 per kg as for PDO Riviera Ligure certified EVO, contracts to be transmitted to the Consortium before October 31st.
“A deliberation to simplify procedures – says Carlo Siffredi, president of the Consortium. – our Board keeps on supporting the Ligurian olive chain, as we believe in fair renumeration of labour and business investments. This instrument will benefit PDO Riviera Ligure EVO as well as the whole olive growing sector, also in terms of promotion and safeguard of efforts of producers and millers who are committed to quality and locally sourced oil”.
Furthermore, recovery of olive groves and business investments provide positive figures.
“We represent a best practice which could be adopted nationally by the oil sector – sums up the President of the Consortium. This is the only Patto di Filiera at national level: it could be replicated in other regions to support locally sourced oils boasting PDO/PGI status. The Patto, infact, prevents olive prices fluctuations due to high/low yields seasons: on the contrary, it fosters persistent growth through time as well as stability in the whole industry”.
Administrative processes are maintained, too. The Consortium will carry out spot checks regarding purchase invoices and payments, a step towards simplification.
