The streets and squares of Spoleto will be the beautiful backdrop to the event “Vini nel Mondo”, an intense three days of encounters between the public, the world of wine and the excellence of quality Italian food represented by DOP and IGP products.
The Umbrian fair will include the presence of AICIG. For the occasion, the Association will exhibit and hold a series of tastings of DOP extra-virgin olive oils in conjunction with Altamura Bread, another product with a protected denomination of origin. In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and sample DOP La Bella della Daunia olives.
The initiative is part of promotional activities that, for several months, have involved four DOP olive oil protection consortia – Chianti Classico, Garda, Riviera Ligure and Val di Mazara – conceived with the idea of bringing together major consortia to better emphasize the quality and authenticity of Italian DOP olive oils.
In addition to the four oils mentioned, who have already participated in joint promotions, “Vini nel Mondo” will allow the public to appreciate the quality of DOP Sabina olive oil, whose protection consortium recently joined AICIG.
At present, the Italian Association of Geographical Indication Consortia represents 56 protection consortia recognized by the Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, representing 93% of Italian Geographical Indication production. AICIG’s main objective is to support the consortia in their efforts to protect, enhance and promote DOP and IGP products by fostering the harmonious growth of the entire sector of excellent products from the Italian food heritage.
