Cristina Armato farm is one of the few oil farms run by a woman. It should be said that “women of oil” constitute a pleasant and solid tradition in Western Liguria. This dates back to the matriarchal dimension which was and is often dominant in rural families of the Western Ligurian areas.
Cristina Armato now expresses sensitivity, grace and enthusiasm. All this translates into the quest for an oil that unites pleasant sweetness with the naturalness of tradition.
The history of Cristina Armato has its roots in the olive groves of Western Liguria, with five generations of experience, starting from Domenico Devia and Maddalena Abbo, in the middle of the 19th century. It is a history made up of sacrifices, working the land, looking after the plants and technical developments despite the continuation of manual harvesting over time. But it is also a history full of satisfaction, due to making good oil, winning farming awards at trade fairs and having the support of loyal customers. And the pleasure of making oil from Liguria known.
Today it is Cristina who has decided to carry forward the family business, running the farm with the constant help of her family, with the aim of combining tradition and innovation.
Therefore Cristina made the decision to produce DOP Riviera Ligure extra virgin olive oil, with the “Riviera di Fiori” label, with a cru. This means that the oil is made in a defined region, in an area of countryside well-loved by the Armato-Devia family. It is a dedicated land and a magical place called Prao di Conti. It is located within the Lucinasco municipality, with good exposure. Its history is original – it was the meadow of the Counts of Ventimiglia, which over time became a fertile and precious olive grove. It was passed down through a captain of the local militia, belonging to the Amej family of Borgomaro. A historic and sought-after land, which now produces high quality olive oil with a pleasantly sweet and embracing flavour, rich in positive sensations.
