22 February 2023, Rome. The Auditorium della Tecnica will host ‘Italia Next DOP – 1st Scientific Symposium PDO PGI Production Chains’, the first national initiative to disseminate scientific research in the national Geographical Indication quality agrifood sector.
The Department of Food Science and Technology for the agro-food chain of the Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza and the Protection Consortium Riviera Ligure PDO oil will also participate in the event. Professor Luigi Lucini will deliver a speech: “Protection and technological applications for the recognition of the authenticity of Geographical Indication products”. The Consorzio di Tutela dell’olio extra vergine di oliva Riviera Ligure DOP will be present with an exhibition desk to disseminate information on research and its role as an operational hand in product sampling on behalf of Piacenza scientists. The topic focuses on the publication of a study in Food Chemistry, one of the top journals in the world, entitled ‘Combining untargeted profiling of phenolic and sterols, supervised multivariate class modelling and artificial neural networks for the origin and authenticity of extra-virgin olive oil: A case study on Taggiasca Ligure’.
