The capital of Piedmont hosts the second meeting of the “work in progress” devoted to quality, territory and food safety
The journey of PDO Riviera Ligure EVO goes on. After the Milan opening it is up to Turin to host the launch aof the new project dedicated to one of the symbols of Made in Italy food excellence: PDO Riviera Ligure extra virgin olive oil. As consumers are becoming more and more interested in knowing the origin of products and raw materials, Turin’s restaurant scene focuses on one of the staple ingredients of the Mediterranean diet.
Recognized as a “Capital of taste, Turin is living a thriving gourmet season animated by top class Chefs. This is why the PDO Riviera Ligure Extra-Virgin Olive Oil Protection Consortium selected Turin to promote the excellence of its productions through the “Qualità Certificata nell’Alta Cucina” (i.e. Certified quality in Haute Cuisine) campaign, which targets high-end restaurants and quality small scale retailers.
The project aims at satisfying the quest for quality, excellence and distinction expressed by consumers: to this end, the Consortium supports relationships and exchanges between PDO producers and the Horeca industry.
Each event features technical tastings addressed to 30 professionals from different sectors – quality gastronomy, high end restaurants and retailers – selected by the Qualivita Foundation, which has been operating for more than 15 years at national level in the promotion and valorisation of PDO quality agri-food products.
Chef Tano Simonato chose PDO Riviera Ligure EVO as the protagonist of the special menu designed for the Turin event, which took place at “Les Petites Madeleines” the gourmet restaurant of the Turin Palace Palace. Emerging Chef Stefano Sforza’s brigade de cuisine worked with Tano Simonato at the preparation of the menu. Each dish was prepared and illustrated by the Chef, who highlighted the specific features of PDO DOP Riviera Ligure oil, selecteded as the high value ingredient of each course.
From Turin, the campaign moves to Fidenza and the Osteria di Fornio, run by Cristina Cerbi and Luca Caraffini. Three events fit for PDO Riviera Ligure EVO to narrate how PDO certification and quality controls guarantee contents and origin of a healthy and safe oil – not to forget about the economic and social sustainability of the ancient Ligurian oil supply chain, historically represented by iconic taggiasca olive. Therefore, PDO EVO stands (once more) as both a key asset for the territory and the one and only condiment for Italian food excellence and its recipes, a treasure appreciated all over the world.
