PDO Riviera Ligure EVO was one of the protagonists of the 2019 edition of OlioOfficina Festival, which took place in Milan from January 31st to February 2nd. A survey jointly promoted by OlioOfficina and Amagi-For Survey (investigation of behaviour and preferences of a panel of 1,200 Italian families asked to try a set of 6 different 250 ml EVO samples) showed how families in the Milan area expressed a predilection for PDO Riviera Ligure – Riviera di Levante, one of the 3 subareas of the PDO (the others are Riviera dei Fiori and Riviera del Ponente Savonese). The PDO Riviera Ligure – Riviera di Levante (razzola cultivar) by Lucchi e& Guastalli (member of the Consortium) was appreciated for its balance, sweetness and versatility.
Moreover, during OlioOfficina PDO Riviera Ligure EVO acted as an ambassador of the whole Italian Riviera. On Saturday 2nd the Consortium launched the national premiere of “Riviera Ligure DOP Experience”, experiential tourism pilot project designed by Ligucibario® (food&wine marketing and tourism) and marketed by Volver Tour Liguria (tour operator). “The aim of the project is the promotion of the history and sensory uniqueness of PDO EVOs – says Giorgio Lazzaretti, Director of the Protection Consortium -. Liguria’s olive groves and terraced hills, as well as their dry stone walls, can play the lead role on the olive tourism scene”.
