The fascinating setting of the Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan is ready to host the seventh edition of the “Olio Officina Festival”. The event, created by renowned oil expert Luigi Caricato, features events, presentations and guided tastings, an effective showcase for the Italian (and international) oil scene. In this light, the participation of the PDO Riviera Ligure Extra-Virgin Olive Oil Protection Consortium aims at promoting EVO excellences from a region – Liguria – which represents the first access to the sea of Italian North Western areas, not to forget about several European countries. When it comes to PDOs, the links between product and territory need a closer, clearer focus: in this light, the stand will be equipped with touch screen monitors and videos fit to narrate all the characteristics of PDO Riviera Ligure oil: e.g. production areas, features, supply chain, history and culinary values, not to forget about tasting hints. The PDO Riviera Ligure Extra-Virgin Olive Oil Protection Consortium and the the PDO Garda Extra-Virgin Olive Oil Protection Consortium will also organize guided tasting sessions in the sala DOP/ sala Agnesi (Fri. 2nd and Sat. 3rd at 10.00, 11.30 and 12.00, duration 1.30 h, 20 pax per session). The Manuale dell’Olio DOP Riviera Ligure. Una guida per la conoscenza e l’utilizzo degli extra vergini e dell’olio DOP Riviera Ligure will be presented on Saturday 3rd (18.30): written by Luigi Caricato with the scientific and editorial coordination of the Qualivita Foundation, the handbook will be distributed among the students of Ligurian and Piedmontese Hotel schools on occasion of specific training modules.
The “I am a tree” claim of the 2018 edition of the “Olio Officina Festival” is emotively strong and charged of links to European traditions and cultures, not to forget about its ecological implications. In the Mediterranean basin the olive tree is a sacred plant – in Liguria it is even “the quintessential tree”.
The participation of the PDO Riviera Ligure Extra-Virgin Olive Oil Protection Consortium suits its commitment in the promotion of a territorial excellence that also provides an added value to the tourism offer of a region which is experiencing positive growth rates.
