On Friday 16 December at the Palazzo della Borsa in Genoa, the final day of the Stati Generali del Turismo in Liguria took place. The event was organized by the Liguria Region in order to define, together with representatives from the tourism industry and regional associations and authorities, the strategic course of development for tourism in Liguria.
Within this context, the presence of regional food and culinary products was only logical, considering that gastronomy is a driving force of tourism. The event included an exhibition of high-quality Ligurian food products, confirmation of this assertion.
The afternoon seminars were coordinated by the Editor in Chief of TG4, Giuseppe Brindisi, with an interview of Gianni Berrino, Head of Tourism. Later, reporting on the state of the art were Flavia Coccia, Head of the Regional Tourism Observatory, as well as the speakers from the previously established working groups: Michele Pagani, Lara Melucci, Marco Fezzardi, and Carlo Fidanza. Marco Bucci, Sole Administrator of Liguria Digitale, presented the new technologies developed for tourism while the presidents of the Port Authorities of Genoa and La Spezia introduced interesting ideas regarding potential synergies between the ports and tourism.
Lastly, Giovanni Toti (President of Liguria), Gianni Berrino (Regional Councillor for Tourism), and Stefano Mai (Regional Councillor for Agriculture) presented excellence awards to Liguria’s high quality products, including to the Supervisory Consortium for Riviera Ligure extra virgin olive oil.
