From Genoa to Sanremo, primary schools have enthusiastically benefited from the free distribution of the PDO Riviera Ligure Oil Game, promoted by the Consortium for the Protection of Ligurian Olive Oil. A didactic activity centred around a colourful course in which the class learns all about Ligurian Riviera PDO EVO and then about extra virgin olive oil in general, Ligurian farming environment, other regional products of excellence, the ingredients of pesto and other Italian PDO products.
“This board game was created a few years ago thanks to Rural Development Plan funding,” emphasizes Carlo Siffredi, President of the Consortium for the Protection of Ligurian Riviera PDO Olive Oil. Apart from Ligurian schools, a “piazza” version appeared during various events. We are relaunching it to promote food education from a young age. We aim at raising people’s awareness about the universe behind PDO oil, other excellent products, agricultural work and local traditions.
The game proposes an interdisciplinary journey in biology and chemistry, botany and geography. Before playing, you can carry out an in-depth historical study and then continue with an introduction to tasting.
