Used to win. For both merit and skill. The Sant’Agata di Oneglia Oil Mill is in the spotlight once again in Los Angeles. Since 2000 the Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition has been one of the most important industry events in the world, with an emphasis on marketing as much as the product itself. An innovative competition which began its 2017 edition with 600 extra virgin olive oils at the “starting line”, from 369 different producers. Participants were from Argentina, Australia, Chile, China, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Turkey, Japan, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, Tunisia, Uruguay, and the United States. The first session in March evaluated oils from the northern hemisphere while, for obvious reason, those from the southern hemisphere will be judged in July.

The Riviera Ligure extra virgin olive oil from the Sant’Agata di Oneglia Oil Mill won the gold medal for its traditional packaging and design. A class of the competition with many participants and quite distinct from the other types of presentations. A calm and collected voice that classically represents Liguria, the Sant’Agata oil Mill has earned seven awards between 2004 and 2017, essentially one every two years.
