A record breaking year for the marketing and sale of Protected Denomination of Origin RIVIERA LIGURE extra-virgin olive oil has just concluded.
The year 2015/2016 saw the certified production of 676.573 tonnes of PDO Riviera Ligure oil in its three geographical areas: Riviera dei Fiori, Riviera del Ponente Savonese and Riviera di Levante.
A record breaking figure for PDO Riviera Ligure oil since its launch on the market in the year 1999/2000. Growth has been steady, despite the variable nature of the harvest due to weather and territorial conditions. The largest production force has always been Riviera dei Fiori, home of the Taggiasca. The production levels of PDO Riviera Ligure oil stands as a testament to what is an increasingly conscious is market and a public in relation to extra-virgin olive oil. PDO Riviera Ligure olive oils can be identified by their red and yellow European PDO label, like other Italian food excellences, and by the numbered yellow neck label of the RIVIERA LIGURE Protection Consortium.
“We cannot but thank consumers for choosing Ligurian PDO oil and the hundreds of olive farms, processing and packaging companies that bring a piece of Liguria to the rest of Italy and the world, supporting the local environment and economy” stated President Carlo Siffredi.
