2018 “Year of Italian Food” gets under way with the assignment of the Scientific Committee that will plan contents and initiatives with the contribution of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism and the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies and the collaboration of organisations committed to the valorisation of national agri-food and oenological excellences.
The breaking figures of Made in Italy exports lead to an increase of sector support actions: according to Istat (National Institute for Statistics) surveys for 2017, exports are likely to exceed 24 billion Euros – record figures due (also) to the performance of the PDO and PGI sectors, accounting for over +22% of the whole industry, with a +143% raise in the last ten years.
On occasion of the Year of Italian Food, the Qualivita Foundation once more reiterates its commitment for the promotion of food culture and PDO and PGI Italian quality productions First, the significant partnership with Treccani for the realization of an editorial project dedicated to quality enogastronomy products and international promotion; then the appointment of managing director Mauro Rosati as a member of the Scientific Committee of 2018 “Year of Italian Food”. Presented in Rome on February 20th, the committee will plan and schedule a rich calendar of activities fit to celebrate Italian Food&Wine as an ambassador of territories of origin of remarkable social, environmental, natural and economic value.
The thirteen members of the Scientific Committee include Mauro Rosati, Slow Food founder Carlo Petrini, Eataly founder Oscar Farinetti, starred chefs Massimo Bottura and Cristina Bowerman, the president of the International Union of Oenologists Riccardo Cotarella, the DG of Ismea (Institute for Services for the Agricultural and Food Market) Raffaele Borriello, the President of Seeds&Chips Marco Gualtieri, Claudia Sorlini, Vice President of Touring Club Italiano, pizzaiolo Enzo Coccia, Elisabetta Moro, Full Professor of Cultural Anthropology at the University of Naples S.O.B, Giorgio Calabrese, MD, nutritionist and Professor of Human Nutrition at the University of Western Piedmont and Massimo Montanari, full professor of History of Nutrition and President of the “Casa Artusi” Scientific Committee.
